Chiropractor, Tampa (Dr. Steve Edelson): Why Choose a Chiropractor?

Chiropractor, Tampa (Dr. Steve Edelson): Why Choose a Chiropractor?
Most people automatically think to get in touch with a medical doctor when they are hurting or if they are sick. They have been trained since youth to associate the correction of these ailments with a medical model. In fact, even the word doctor has a specific meaning for most people. When they refer to another individual who happens to have a doctorate degree, they often say that they are not a real doctor. This is what many people say to chiropractors. Guess what? Chiropractors have docarate degrees. It is true that a chiropractor is not a medical doctor and do not have an M.D. after their name. Instead they have a D.C. after their name, which means doctor of chiropractic. The doctor of chiropractic educational program happens to be very similar to what a med student would experience, up to a point. When it comes time to learn about medication and drugs, the chiropractic student learns about the art of detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation. Many chiropractors even learn about how to help other joints, such as shoulders and knees. So when is a good time to choose a chiropractor over an MD for your health care needs? The answer, in my opinion, is that you should always go to a chiropractor before going to an MD. Chiropractors do not advise that their patients take drugs, and they do not do surgery. Chiropractic is the least invasive and most natural way to detect and correct a health related issue. Whether you are in pain, or if you just don't feel good for an variety of reasons, going to a chiropractor is a wise choice. If your problem is not in the realm of what can be helped by chiropractic, then the chiropractor will advise you of this and refer you to a specialist or to a medical doctor. Obviously, there are situations when going to a chiropractor should not be your first choice. I would not choose to go to a chiropractor if I was bleeding, or if I had a broken bone. But for most other cases, I would go to my chiropractor first. Chiropractic care is safe, affordable, and very effective. It utilizes the bodies own healing power to help people re-gain their health. When the chiropractor gives you an adjustment, they are removing nerve irritation and re-setting your bodies proper contact between its nervous system and the rest of the body. As long as their is no interference in this communication, the body can usually heal itself. This is also the case for dealing with pain. It is usually a joint that is out of its proper alignment that irritates nerves and causes pain and inflamation.
